A guesthouse at the height of the beauty of Bucovina

In less than 30 km from Vatra Dornei – and if you come through Câmpulung Moldovenesc, a little over 15 km, you reach the  Bio ValePutna Pension located right on the bank of the Putna stream , in the village of Valea Putnei.

The cottage is fully rented, so it is suitable for friends, families, and small groups.

There are 6 bedrooms in total, of which 4 with large double beds and 2 twin rooms. Large living room with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen. In the yard, a generous pavilion with dining area, fireplace, oven and traditional hob, barbecue, terrace by the river, for dining. Playground.

The cottage is self-catering, but the owners can take care of the food themselves, if they are notified some time before arriving here.

But we warn you, you are in Bucovina and it will be very difficult to refrain! First of all, no one on this earth knows how to smoke trout, like the locals.

Then their cobs with trout in fir branches are brilliant. Let’s stay in these eases, with trout: borscht from it; fried with garlic sauce and polenta; trout in sour cream.

Let’s change the level and have lunch at the sheepfold. Talk to the hosts who are natively hospitable and they will arrange an off-road route to get there. Let’s talk about sarmale, the famous Moldovan tochitura, traditionally prepared cheeses and meat products, pies and cakes….

As I said, we are in Bucovina and pizza really doesn’t work.

The living room with the kitchen and the dining area are in the attic and, as in the whole cottage, either old or beautifully reconditioned furniture was used, or processed in iron and wood, by local craftsmen.

Then, the carpets are woven by the women from the area, from sheep’s wool, and the pottery is made in the hands and the wheel.

Everything that is modern is perfectly suitable in the decor, for a contemporary comfort:

Dishwasher, stovetop, electric oven, toaster, microwave, espresso machine, audio system, Blu-ray player, free Wi-Fi, iron.

Needless to say, from this place you can reach all the famous monasteries in northern Moldova.

If you come here in winter, there are ski slopes nearby; adventure parks, walking or cycling trails; picking berries; courses for smoking trout, putting in cobs, decorating eggs, weaving carpets.

In the Bio Valeputna chalet and its surroundings you will find everything that is most proud of Bucovina: house cleaning, good food, friendly people, dreamy landscapes, tradition and a lot of history.
