1. Private Dining at Grigorescu Mansion

Private dining at Conacul Grigorescu is a special experience. The 3-course lunch/dinner is prepared and served by the owners themselves on the terrace of the mansion, in the pool bar or at Casa Noelia – the annex of the mansion, a recently renovated Wallachian country-style house. Juranda Kirschner is passionate about home-made, artisanal food, strictly using seasonal ingredients from own production or surrounding orchards and forests. She combines traditional Romanian food recipes with international influences and creates a unique slow food cuisine. Each course is accompanied by a selection of finest Romanian wines.

Please note that we are not a restaurant open to the public and we do not have a restaurant menu – everything is prepared on a daily basis – based on available fresh products from own production, surrounding orchards or local producers.

Drinks: We have a large drinks menu with premium wines from Dealu Mare, local craft beers, special cocktails and locally produced fruit juices.

Kids: For kids we offer a special lunch/dinner

 

2. Exclusive Events

Our concept is dedicated to those who are tired of sterile locations, typical kitsch decoration and standard convenience food you know from many private events in Romania. We offer you a small, country-style but luxury event in a very special and family-run venue – without “manele”. Grigorescu Mansion is one of the most beautiful private mansions in Buzau county – close to the Dealu Mare wine area and the Muddy Volcanoes.

How it works

The event takes place in the garden, on the terrace or the pool bar of the mansion. We serve only fresh and seasonal premium food from our own production or local farms. A sommelier will present you the best wines of the nearby Dealu Mare area. Decoration, music (only ambient music), detailed concepts and additional wishes (i.e. a cooking show) will be discussed in advance to transform your event into a very special and individual experience.

For baptism/ weddings: The small Orthodox village church is just 50 m in walking distance from the mansion and offers a spectacular view to Buzau valley and the Carpathian mountains.

The welcome ceremony takes place outside in the garden in front of the mansion where we serve Carpathian cocktails, traditional bread, salt and homemade products.

 

3. Cooking classes & Artisan food workshops

You will get a homemade welcome drink upon arrival

We will tell you the story of this place and about the local Romanian cuisine.

If weather and time permit, we will have a walk in the forest to look for aromatic herbs, mushrooms or truffles

4. Dealu Mare Wine Weekend

Learn all about Romanian wine and discover one of Romania’s most beautiful wine regions. Dealu Mare (“The Big Hill ”)  is on the same latitude as Bordeaux and Northern Italy and said to be the “Tuscany” of Romania.  For private groups we organize special thematic weekends (min 3 rooms/6 adults).

5. Truffle hunting weekend (Conacul Grigorescu)

Truffle hunting is a real nature and culinary experience. The forests in Buzau County close to Grigorescu Mansion are an ideal place for truffle hunting. Being on the same latitude as Piedmont in Italy, having favorable climate conditions and abundant forests, Buzau County has excellent conditions for the growth of truffles. But truffle hunting needs years of experience, knowledge of local places and special trained dogs. Join one of the most amazing culinary adventures in the Subcarpathian mountains.

6. UNESCO Geopark Buzau Land – Family Weekend

Buzau land is currently an aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark. UNESCO Global Geoparks are single, unified geographical areas where sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed with a holistic concept of protection, education and sustainable development. The Geopark Land of Buzau includes several famous tourist landmarks, such as the Muddy Volcanoes, the Eternal Flames, the domes of salt, or the Trovants from Ulmet.

7. Vegetarian Weekend

Our philosophy is based on the slow food concept with fresh, regional and high-quality products. That´s why we only work with selected local farmers, small producers and wine producers of Buzau. The majority of fruits and vegetables we use come from our own garden and orchards – everything is  grown organically. Herbs, truffles, mushrooms and forest fruits we find directly behind our house in the Carpathian forest. For private groups we organise special thematic weekends (min 3 rooms. 6 adults).

Rafting:

Rafting is one of the most distractive water sports. Buzau county offers an exceptional panorama rafting trail with Buzau river crossing the Carpathian Mountains. The complete equipment is at your disposal (special boats, neopren swimming costume, helmets and life vest) and a professional rafting team (incl. whitewater rescue team) takes care to provide you an unforgettable adventure trip. Rafting is perfect for a group of friends or as teambuilding activity.

Paragliding:

Description: Start/ theoretic preparation, one flight day (4-6 flights from 20 and 65 altitude) for groups of min. 5 and max. 10 persons. Later leisure flights from 200 m altitude. It will be assured: school and leisure paragliders, body and head protection, radio/transceiver station and one instructor.
