Hai la Saivan
$1000 per person
Saivan it’s an old romanian word that means „winter shelter for the animals”. In the heart of Bucovina, half way between the villages of Gura Humorului and Camplung Moldvenesc, LA SAIVAN *BioRetreat&Farm* is a special place, designed specifically for those who know how to appreciate unspoiled nature and life in a real, old-school yet alive traditional Romanian farm. It’s also an ideal base to explore not only the region and its Unesco sites such as the amazing Painted Monasteries of Bucovina, but also for winter sports and activities on Mount Rarau brand-new Ski slopes, the longest in the country.
At LA SAIVAN *BioRetreat & Farm* you will be able to pick in total from 3 different traditional wooden houses dating back from the 1910’s, 20’s and 30’s, transported from different villages in Bucovina and rebuilt on top of the hill for spectacular views and peace.
Thanks to the 3 fresh-mountain-water wells on the land, the farm is a proper agriturism and on the property you will find horses, cows, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, pigs, cats and shepard dogs. And often, passing by, also our friends the fox, the deer and the wild boars.
All eggs, milk, cheese, meat, honey and palinka come straight from the farm, 100% Bio, and are made using traditional methods centuries old.
That’s the base of our breakfasts and of chef Lili kitchen, and the secret that enables her to prepare such delights out of the best traditional recipes from Bucovina. Each of our 3 houses enjoys perfect views and exposure to all day sunlight, as they all face south to the valley. As we are keen in offering a true back-in-time experience, the wooden houses were built using traditional ancient tecniques and even though they offer modern comforts such as electricity, central heating, running hot/cold water and contemporary restrooms, you will not find TV.
We are sure you will have more time and will be happy to disconnect and savour the truthness and uniqueness of the nature and the place.
The human and anthropologic texture of the whole Bucovina region is also amazingly rich and alive, with every season full of folkloristic events ranging from amazing Easter traditions, to summer and winter colorful celebrations in traditional costumes, such as “Obiceurile de iarna”.
Open a door in time and get back to nature.
Welcome to “La Saivan”.
